Halloween is just days away, which means its time to get creative! Since my birthday is on Halloween, I tend to go all out when it comes to costumes. This year, I planned to do things a litte bit differently. I made not 1, not 2, but 3 different costumes! Although I won’t be going out to show them off, I still had tons of fun putting these looks together. Here are three cartoon characters that I recreated!
1. D.W. from Arthur
When I saw this picture of D.W., I just had to recreate it! She is such an iconic character in the show Arthur. I got the shirt and skirt from Amazon and I made the belt out of yellow construction paper. I’m so surprised on how good this came out. I honestly feel like with a few more accessories, this could serve as a day to day outfit. Don’t be surprised if you see me wearing this after Halloween!
2. Debbie from The Wild Thornberrys
You have NO IDEA how many times I had to blow bubbles to take this photo. I was so happy to recreate this classic character from The Wild Thornberrys. Her sass is something I’ll never be able to perfect haha. I got the shirt from Amazon, the flannel from a thrift store, and the jeans from another thrift store. Click here to see how I thrift-flipped them!
3. Iron Heart from Marvel Comics
Last, but not least we have Iron Heart. She is such an amazing, powerful, and inspirational character that I had to do! I got the shirt from Amazon, and I actually printed out the Iron Heart symbol and taped it to my shirt! I know, I know, look at you Janelle, saving money and being creative. What can I say, I’m an innovative person. I sealed the look by adding some sliver hoops and letting my hair out into an afro.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read! I hope you liked these costumes as much as I do! Be sure to subscribe for updates on when I post and follow me on social media @heyjnelle . I’ll be posting on my lifestyle and fashion blog twice a month so be sure to be on the lookout for more posts. Leave blog post suggestions down below and tell me what you thought about this one! Be safe and have a happy Halloween!
